Centro!

I have got  my Palm Centro [1]  this Friday. It's not that  one which I
ordered at  the beginning of  the corona  crisis but a  second-hand one
from eBay. It's an ordinary black-silver  model with a QWERTY keyboard.

It has a few  scratches and it looks like it was in  active use. But it
seems to  work (there might  be faulty infraport  but I should  test it
properly).

Thus  I have  installed the  KillingHawk's  [2] support  for the  Czech
language and some  of my usual stuff  (SmallBASIC, Converter, EasyCalc,
Progect, DiddleBug and so).

Things weren't so easy, though. I first tried to install some databases
(memo  data,  addresses..)  and  I  forgot that  OS  5  uses  different
applications. After hotsync the device  rebooted itself and ended in an
infinite boot  loop. The Centro  is one of the  latest Palms so  it has
non-volatile RAM. In general it is a  good thing but here it meant that
removing of battery does not clean the RAM.  SO I had to find how to do
the hard  reset (it's  easy after  all: just hold  the Off  key, remove
battery  for 5  or  more second  and  the put  it  back..). After  this
procedure the device returned to life.
