Week Log ======== There was too little interesting events during last week. Our university is preparing for the new semester so there were come councils and meetings and so. Thus the GPD Pocket was in full action. Students have been coming, too. We will see at is develops because there are many student from other countries and it is possible that borders will close soon... I had little time to do anything useful. I think that I started my hideaway Indigo only once and edited one or two lines of code. The only new finding was the VCal (an old SGI IRIX calendar application with the Motif GUI) can output very nice month calendars in PostScript. So I printed the September calendar (thus: exported from the VCal, converted from PS to PDF with the GhostScript and the printed on a printer). IT is not configurable in any way but it looks very well. I wanted to upgrade my standing desk with the Sun Ultra 20. It is much faster and much versatile than the first generation Raspberry Pi Model B which was here. But I failed - my last RAM moduli or the Ultra just died so the computer cannot boot. So the poor old Pi was not removed from its position. So I still cannot run (or compile) the GNU Octave nor the SDL version of the BBC Basic. I tried to set up my Apple ][e (Italian version). It starts, it can read from the floppy drive but I cannot find a proper monitor (I have a modern small LCD which is said to work perfectly with the ][e but it the image is moved down and there are is no way to adjust it). I got a RF modulator (actually two of them: an old Sup'R'Mod one and a modern Chinese one: the Sup'R' one cannot be connected to any of my TVs and the modern one cannot produce signal which I'm able to see reliably; it might be my TV issue as I had similar problems with the Elektronika BK-0010 until I have found a SCART adapter for the device). The second problem with the ][e is that the "Return" key produces the "9" character and not something like the newline or so. I'm not sure what is the problem and I cannot find any help on the Internet. It might be something simple and stupid but at the moment I don't know. There is a keyboard layout switch but the Return work equally for both possible layouts (Italian and English). P.S. If you do not want to buy the Apple ][ then please do nod read the "Sophistication and Simplicity book"... Written on the SGI IRIS Indigo R3k...
