Conference week =============== Since 2006 with only a few exceptions I was on a conference in the first or the second week of September. Often the conferences were held near the sea. So there were days in air-conditioned rooms with evenings near the sea, in pine forests and so on. This year is of course on of the exceptions. I have not left the country at all (except a short trip to Slovakia in August). There has been a lot of work related to the starting semester at the university, to the activities related to the previous COVID-19 emergency and to preparations to the one which is probably very close (universities in Prague are already closed and universities in other parts are awaiting similar development). Thus I managed to find some time in Tuesday afternoon for a small trip to pine forest near the water. The pine forests are Central European ones and the water was just the local water reservoir (the Slezska Harta in not-eastern part of the Czech Republic). We (me and my wife) also climbed the Velky Roudny volcano. The we bought very good ice cream in one of nearby villages. It was very hot in Tuesday. So we are able to feel like we are near the Lake Garda in Italy (well, sort of, the hill is much smaller, the lake was not natural and Italian ice cream is something very different...). Still, it was a good emulation of one of post-conference afternoons. I also made my ROOPLOCH post from that trip. Written on the Cambridge Z88, edited with the Vim on the S.D.F.
