For first time in 2023 ======================= Today I did several thing for the first time in 2023: * turned on the SGI O2 (the machine used to write this post) * turned on the PSION MC200, MC400 and MC600 * connected the PSION M600 to the O2 and transferred some files * made ROM dump of a SIBO machine (the MC200) * tried to use an electronic typewriter * felt from my bicycle on ice (and have damaged it) * rode the Alex Moulton AM2 bicycle Actually, some of these things were for the first time at all. The Chris [1] asked me to make dump of my MC200 ROM (he has only the more modern MC400s). So I tried to to that. By the way, he has been developing the PSION MC400 emulator which is neat. I will write about the typewriter when I will obtain the correct paper (it does not accept the A4 size) and find the pens which will be able to draw something. That (unnamed) machine also has the serial port and I have found a manual which describes the commands for making some graphics. Stay tuned. Some time ago I have got a badly damaged (and strangely repaired) Alex Moulton AM2 bike. Today was the first day when it has been complete enough to be able to ride. So I rode it for some 2.5 km. This is not a bike which I will ever dare to use for any longer ride but it is very interesting anyway. It's the simple machine with 2-speed Fichtel und Sasch coaster hub. So there is no derraileur nor the traditional rear brake and the whole machine is relatively light (for a 1983 steel bike) - it's slightly over 10 kg. These 10 kg include a full bike with front and rear suspension. So ride is very gentle. The 2-speed hub is easier to use than I expected (gears are changed by in the same way in what the coaster brake is activated - only the movement has to be shorter). I felt from an another bike in the morning (from my commuter). There was some ice on roads which I avoided with great success. Only in shade of our faculty building was hidden a small area with ice which I didn't noticed... My knee is probably not 100% OK but is seems I have damaged the left pedal of the bike. It was an interesting day after all. References: [1] https://github.com/zedstarr/MC400_ROM zedstarr/MC400_ROM [2] gopher://gopherpedia.com/0/Moulton%20Bicycle
