I first started hanging around on BITNET in 1991 after my friend Kirby
introduced me to the joys of the computer lab and showed me how to use the
wyse50 terminals.  My first e-mail address was <username>@USMCP6.BITNET
...  ahh, the nostalgia.  I discovered BBSes in 1992, God help us all.  
So far I've been hanging around the same BBS since fall 1992, which makes
me ancient by Net standards.

I got my first Unix account in 1992 as well, which eventually led to my 
career as a Unix sysadmin. It was SunOS 4.something, running on a
SPARCStation 2. 

SDF is a great idea.  I like it because it reminds me of the 'Net I first 
fell in love with back in 1991, when everything was text-based and you had 
to know what the hell you were doing to have a presence online.  I love 
this culture, I love the 'Net.  It's my home.
