Subject: Building a PC From: keiya@sdf.org Date: Sat, 02 Dec 2017 05:38:07 -0600 So, I finished assembling a PC from components. I hadn't actually done that before, only swapped stuff out. I took several hours because I made silly mistakes, but in the end I did get it finished. I didn't get a new monitor yet, thinking I could just use an old one for now and get a nice one later, but my old one has VGA in and the video card I used doesn't have VGA out. Oops. It's probably heretical for me to say around here, but yes: I'm going to be installing Windows 10 and a bunch of proprietary software. I enjoy unix style environments, but I also like my modern shiny stuff, and bluntly free software just isn't there yet. Plus, I play modern games fairly often, so I'd be using a bunch of proprietary stuff no matter what OS I used because the free software gaming scene is understandably thin. ~ Keiya
