Subject: SSDs are too fast From: keiya@sdf.org Date: Tue, 05 Dec 2017 03:40:12 -0600 I've gotten my new PC up and running. I'm using a spongey wireless kb+mouse and an old TV as a monitor, but it's running. I even have networking! I don't have ethernet to my room, and no wifi card for the desktop yet (it's on the way) but I can use my phone as a bridge. The main thing that strikes me is that it's actually kind of freaking me out how fast it boots up. Admittedly part of that is a lack of the cruft that a Windows installation seemingly inevitably collects, but part of it is that this is my first SSD. I don't really have much else to say at the moment - I've been wrestling with core architecture for a less-hacky rewrite of my phlogging tool some, but have otherwise not done much the last few days. Hopefully I can think up things to ramble about at least a couple times a week! ~ Keiya
