---------- Terry Pratchett's Hogfather (2006) Notes Written 12/25/2023 Format - DVD ----- The first, and only good, live action adaptation of a Terry Pratchett novel in the form of a two part mini-series. The Hogfather is a three hour take on one of the best Discworld novels and worth the time to watch. Well cast and acted around a solid take on the source material, there is little to complain about. Even the bit of CGI bullshit needs to be graded on the greater BBC curve where it is actually rather competent by comparison to most other Sky productions. Even the usual complaints of things left out from source book are tempered by obvious necessity. The writers are to be commended for how well they accomplished their goals with minimal literary casualties. Someone in the house is re-reading The Hogfather every Christmas season while the movie is a Christmas Eve or Day tradition for the lot of us. Anyone else looking for a solid holiday movie would do well to track down a hardcopy or..."acquire" a digital file. ===== kimek [gopher://sdf.org/1/users/kimek]
