don't think there is enough intervention in the early grades; 2nd-4th grade, I think are critical to weed out the "bad kids" (who can't help themselves and need medication and a different type of school) - and to prevent bullies from forming. Beyond 4th grade, well, I think the pattern is pretty well set.* Not impossible to fix, but far more difficult. It's not that "socializing" isn't important; but why should people have to go to school with future criminals, future serial killers, future wife-beaters all mixed together?** How does that help for a better functioning society?* Never understood that.* And if socializing is so important, how come there's no structure to it?** Why does every generation of kids have to figure it out for themselves the 'hard way'?* Ridiculousness.* What doesn't kill you make you stronger?* No - not everybody.* Nobody should fall off the bell curve and into the firepit.
