Kenneth Udut El Ch* I was 8 yrs old when I first noticed the bullshit in TV ads. I'm watching my 9 yr old nephew going through similar thinking processes as I did and I'm glad. I want him to have a good bullshit detector; not just to have something to complain about... but to be *aware* of the maze he's being pulled through as he's being pulled through it. Common Core in math has been creeping its way into his school and homework; with its "grit" based confusion tactics. [break down the soldiers and we can rebuild them] all surrounded by lots of otherwise agreeable notions (standards of education etc)... I don't like when people are treated like statistics - heck, I don't even like when STATISTICS are treated like statistics but anyway... yeah, if I could give *any* kind of training to kids, it would be a bullshit detector. This is why I'm a *huge fan* of children's TV programming. The subversives like us who want to change the world for kids: Where are they? Making cartoons for kids. And they're doing a great job, through comedy of introducing "hey guess what, there's bullshit out there". And anime does a great job of deconstructing mythological structures and the philosohpies within, allowing kids to really think for themselves (in a mythological fashion) of what they believe about life and such. 3 mins * Like * 1 Kenneth Udut Huge credit goes to Amazing World of Gumball and Fairly Oddparents; there's a lot of wonderfully subversive themes in there - he'll show me his favorite parts on youtube and stuff; and as I watch them and laugh I think, "Good good.. he's not going to become any kind of societal zombie" Just now * Edited * Like
