Well, the way I look at it, it's their network. Not a public service. I have friends of all ages. Does it matter if I'm scanned? No. I expect it. I didn't buy the Internet wires, the inbetwen servers and stuff. I don't use private messages much anyway. "Keep everything public". especially if you're an adult dealing with ppl under 18 online sometimes. But really, everybody's ultimately public / potential to be public. Same with using GMail. If they can insert ads based on content, and they're required by authorities to report criminal activiy, that's what they gotta do. Do I *wish* there was such a thing as privacy? Sure. But there never was. Certainly not on the Internet. The way its set up, messages are passed through other servers. Log files, etc. The crime here is falsely giving an EXPECTATION of privacy. Snapchat is the WORST offender there. Ppl are lulled into a false sense of security. But they all seem to do it. Still, its good to remind ppl. Privacy has always been an illusion. A nice idea. But it's unreal.
