Oh wow, I forgot about him. Yeah, he was breaking into a
   multi-million dollar industry there; the academic journal
   system.

   Capturing all of the archives and releasing them via pirate bay
   or over secret ipv6 sites or whatever, would take away MILLIONS
   of dollars from the pockets of academic journals.

   Would *You* pay $15 for a single article? Not me. But if you're
   doing academic/scientific research, you have to. Departments
   pour lots of money into these - and this isn't just
   Universities; CORPORATIONS pay for their scientists to have
   access to these journals as well.

   So, him stealing it was a big deal for MIT; they may call it
   "non-profit" but that's a technicality really.

   When I do research, I have to sometimes be happy with an
   abstract from them when I REALLY want the whole thing. It's
   annoying as hell.
