Ah yes. It's not a bad account, although its somewhat of an
   England-centric model of the first 1000 years. I didn't notice
   it being BBC per se, but it has a bit of the BBC pov. Missing
   stuff. Holds to old "Byzantium = not-much" and continues the
   fiction of "lost knowledge" that was rediscovered tale. More or
   less the account I learned in school, the tale that always ends
   up in the victory of Science, Reason and modern times
   eventually.
