I think you'd get a good response if you gave the compliment
   anyway. I've had strange men out of nowhere compliment my beard.
   Either I get, "Wish I had your beard, bro" or "Hey, nice beard"
   - which was usually someone with an equally nice beard. Just
   random parking lot encounters. Men actually DO compliment each
   other sometimes for no particular reason.
