Within several belief systems, including Edgar Cacye's theosophy (which now would be called New Age), Karma and the belief in past lives leads to a code of conduct. Law of Karma is the ethics. Karma as one applies it in their own life is the morals. It is a stronger form than the "should" that we typically place on morals and ethics. Karma for those who believe, is a law of natural consequences, a law that comes out of the Karmic system. So, even though it may seem unorthodox, I believe it is a valid expression of ethical standards and personal morals as the belief informs the philosophy. It is not part of my belief system, but I respect it for those that practice the tenets that lead forth from the belief system.
