There's something called negotiating meaning. It's a basic part
   of effective communication.

   You don't have to start with shared definitions but you can wok
   your way there.

   If it becomes a standoff where one group says, "USE MY
   DEFINITIONS ONLY" and another group says "USE MY DEFINITIONS
   ONLY", then we go no place, and you are correct.

   But effective communication is possible amongst anybody.
