Well, we had Fred for about 8 years - he had a long life and this is the only panther run-in that we've had. we've had bobcats, raccoons and a nasty skunk kill our chickens. Our next batch of chickens WILL be enclosed tightly. And goat-wise, we've been talking about getting a female goat (for milk and stuff) but that goat would be mighty protected - we'd have to do the 10 foot fence thing with ...a roof and all that jazz. We haven't been getting the paper in quite a few months - so I hadn't seen that article (it's so rare that they have any stories about golden gate estates) -- but I called the panther people in the FWC so they'll probably send over a biologist who will try to track the movements of the panther. Looking at the maps of movement, the panthers hadn't been over here yet, but now there's at least one. and he was BIG."
