I have friends that love his movies. I _tried_ but I just couldn't get into them. I *could* appreciate the wry humor in the "inglorious bastards" but would've preferred it less bloody and sarcastic but that's his style. So, I could tolerate that one, given the pretext. But the others I tried watching.. they just... I dunno... seemed dumb to me. "Hi I'm clever, aren't I?" was in every scene. I never got lost in it. Too much winking at the audience, and not in a Monty Python good natured ribbing sort of way. Yeah. Not surprised he said this, although I hoped he was a little smarter than that. I was mistaken. I may have leftist leanings on a number of issues and rightist leanings in some others, but free speech, civility and diplomacy tops all of them.
