Gossip with Bombs. There's a definite smear of "who are the bad
   guys" and "who are ok enough/useful in our book" that is
   different between nations. It's the lack of black + whiteness
   that makes this whole thing a mess. One says, "This guy isn't
   ISIS, and even though he _was_ Al-Quaeda he's a decent enough
   guy and hates ISIS too". Another says, "This guy was Al-Quaeda
   and even if he's not strictly ISIS, he's really similar to ISIS
   and we wanted to get rid of him anyway, so if you support him,
   you're supporting ISIS". And so we've got competing bits of
   overlapping logic. It's gossip with bombs.
