Regarding the OP - the reason i can still see a need for Philosophy hanging around is because of this: The way we *think* Science works is not the way it _actually_ works. Sometimes it goes off track and need hemming in by somebody. Perhaps we don't need Philosophy to do so. But it's useful to have at least a few high-minded philosophers around that are aware of the history and various logics within the philosophies just in case Science loses its way.
