look up heloise hints. probably something like stick it in a
   freezer, or drench it in epsom salts or something equally
   unexpected. I'm sure there is an answer to it that won't mess up
   the color or cause the photos to fall apart. For scanning - if
   you have a camera phone you can use that to scan pictures.
   Hardest part is getting rid of the reflection when you take the
   picture of a picture. "
