---------- 2023-02-17 ---------- Today is Friday. It was a snow day here. Well, not actually a snow day, more of a freeze raining day, but all school busses weren't working so most kids don't go to school. I ended up leaving my kids at home too. Earlier I had to drive my wife to work. She's working in a bakery and must arrive really early in the morning. Today was 5am. So my routine is: I drive her and get back home to take a nap before waking up for "real". Then is wake up kids, prepare their lunch and drive them to school. After that I get back and start working. But not before preparing a good cup of coffee. Then I go like that until 2pm when I pick up them from school and back to work a little more. My wife is a little worried about me, because she thinks I'm working too much. And it's indeed true. The problem is that I'm also drinking a lot. I mean, not during the day, but usually in the evenings when I have some deadline or project to deliver I buy 2 or 3 beers and keep drinking while I code. I feel that I get more focused when I do that. Anyway, I know it's not healthful and I should be careful about burnout. Or am I already burned out? Probably. The thing is: we are here in Canada with a work permit attached to this company. If I don't show up and work hard I fear we might lose this opportunity and have to go back to Brasil. At least this is what I think. But yeah, I must change this bad habit. It's not sustainable. Anyway, today is Friday and I'm not working anymore. So I might get something else to do after writing this thing here. Maybe I will finally take the eletronic kit project that I bought a couple of weeks ago and never had the time to actually finish it. Hm, did I say that I'm learning eletronics? I don't think so. Well, I'm saying now. It was a long time desire of mine, especially when I was a teenager and heard about this brazillian band called Mutantes (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfs9DC4GNr0) that used to make their own guitar amplifiers and pedal effects. I would buy used books in a used book store (we call them "sebo" in brasil). Well, only buying because I never understood anything from all of that schematics and therminology. In the end I followed the software path (as opposed to hardware) and never went back. Until now... \o/ Let's see if I will sustain this hobbie or will be just another thing that I give up after a few weeks. I let you know how it goes... Have a great weekend. ---------- lofi4track ----------
