--------21 Feb 2023-------- Yesterday we went to Hamilton to visit the waterfalls (I had commented here). The first two waterfalls were okay, they were pretty indeed, but it was annoying that for each one of them we had to pay for the whole day, despite only staying for 1 hours or so. The third (and last) was the so-called Devil's Punch bowl. We also had to pay, but that was cheaper. We arrived around 3pm and the sun was warm, despite the temperature. At first the waterfall seemed weak, with very little water strength, despite the height (was indeed high). The colors of the rocks were also very impressive. There was a lookout, which seemed very high and dangerous to my taste, with some trails closed (lack of winter maintenance). Overall, the whole scenario looked gorgeous, including a nice view of the city and the lake Ontario. There was even a huge (christian) cross that one could probably see from the city downstream. Things begun looking weird when we found out there was a homage to apparently someone who had jumped in August 2022. It was a little sad and the girls got really impressed by that. There was a small cross and small toys, like pokemons, likely from the man, which made things even more melancholic. The trails were not so cool and ended suddenly right on the side of the railway. We were obligated to come back from the trail if we didn't want to return from the trail. We took the chance to take some pictures lying on the trail playing like we were in a bang-bang movie, which was really fun. However, without notice we heard a loud noise from our back. When we looked behind it was the train very close from us (I would say 200m at least). Frightned, we all jumped out of the rail protecting ourselves in the sidewalk (not really a sidewalk but more like the beginning of the forest). I could not see one of my kids, which stayed on the other side of the rail, which made me very unconfortable. After a few seconds (an eternity) the train was all over and we re-grouped on the sidewalk. Everyone super scared (but also very excited after the fact, I must be honest). The whole stay there was full of these types of surprises. I wonder that's something to do with the place itself. Even the name is strange. Today I spent some time researching about the place on the internet and found out that it is indeed a very popular spot for this type of unfortunate destiny (a couple of car crashes and suicides). Today was work, so nothing interesting. Sorry for the grammar mistakes. This was written from the library and I don't have enough time to keep searching google for the right way of say something in English every time. ---------- lofi4track ----------
