---------- 2023-02-26 ---------- Sunday. Yesterday was rest all day. Only left home to do groceries. Watched a documentary about Amanda Knox after following her thread on twitter about epiphany. I've only heard her name but never really knew what the story was about. It's crazy how one can have their life turned upside down so unexpectedly in a apparently unrelated sequence of actions. What if she never had travelled to Italy? Or if she was at home at the time of the murder. And what about Meredith. I cannot imagine what she had been through that night. That makes me really sad and hopeless about humanity. I've been so impressed by this whole story that I ended up waking up at 4am thinking about it and worried about my own daughters. What future this stupid world reserves for them. I really hope it's a good one. One thing is for sure - this world is not fair. Sorry for the negativity. I guess I will stop ranting. ---- In other news, I've came across a Fernando Pessoa video on youtube. As a portuguese speaker I've been always in touch with his books since I was in high school. It was even one of the books I had to read when joining university - in Brasil there's an countrywide exam all students have to take in order to be approved to join the university. In my case I think the book was "The colected poems of Alberto Caeiro" - one of his many heteronyms. The video focused on "The book of disquiet" and how it reflects one of the core philosophical aspects of Pessoas's work according to the video author: "the fragmented ilusory nature of the self". Somehow, it reminded me about the concept of self as described by Douglas Hofstadter in his book "I am a strange loop" in which he describes one consciousness to be not a single closed entity but a collection of fragmented pieces inhabited among all the minds that we have interacted throughout our life. The ilusory aspect of reality also reminded me some budhist concepts as well. W ell, I guess I have the next book in my reading list. Have a great week everyone. ---------- lofi4track ----------
