Down a Hole - Up a Tree ====== I have really enjoyed having the jughead (jugtail) search engine installed here on the InfinitelyRemote server. I have amassed quite an assortment of content from many sources and rather than just hunt around for interesting stuff I can pick a keyword and see if I get any hits. Good Times! (see gopher://infinitelyremote.com/9/random/2020/GoodTimes/GOODTIMS.AVI) Jugtail has the ability to map-out one single gopher server at a time even if it is not going to serve as a search engine for that site. To take advantage of this ability I have created a cgi utility that allows the user to generate a map of any specified gopher root-site and save the results to a file. If you care to try it yourself it is available (for now at least) in the super-secret, unpublished, utilities section of the InfinitelyRemote GopherHole: gopher://infinitelyremote.com/1/utility - I have already mapped sdf.org and made that file read only to prevent corruption (since it is pretty sizable.) All saved results are accessible here: gopher://infinitelyremote.com/1/treehole. Right now the utility page also features the Jughead.log file for your viewing pleasure. Also available is a web-search interface for the ddgr (DuckDuckGo) utility. I was intending to come up with a way to search gopherspace using the DuckDuckGo backbone to be called "DuckDuckGopher"tm - this feature marks step one in that endeavor.
