# Certificate changes and random winter thoughts 2021-01-18 We finally got some actual winter-weather. The lake is frozen and there is snow that will stay on the ground for at least a few days at a time. Me and a few friends were out ice-skating, and it was a really nice day to do so. In other news, I've been spending some time and money on upgrading my computer setup. My monitor died on me, and I got two new ones and a arm to hold them at the same time, so that they can be easily adjusted. The difference is like night and day. My old monitor was something like 7 years old by now, so maybe it would have been time to upgrade soon anyway, but it always pains me a bit to replace something that still works. I've also spent a little time on this gemini-server and generated a new certificate so that I won't have to change it all the time (like with the let's encrypt certs I've used before). Since the consensus in geminispace seems to be that you use self-signed certs on account of the TOFU-system that is used, it's a bit of a hassle to have to make exceptions every three months when the LE-certs are due for renewal. Hopefully this will make it a bit nicer to use this site from now on. The content for this site is CC-BY-SA-4.0.
