# Holiday, Workshop and Electronics 2022-12-26 Long time since my last update! Figured I'll write a bit down to reflect on the past year and the time since my last post. I've been expanding my small basement-office from being only used for darkroom-work to also include a workstation running OpenBSD and some stuff related to electronics. I've gotten a used soldering station for cheap and have spent some time putting together small kits to practice. I really enjoy it, and will probably continue doing so, so I've put in another desk and gotten a few more shelves to keep track of all the stuff related to that. I've also gotten into synthesizers a bit. I got a Volca Keys a while ago, and liked messing around with it, so I got a Volca Bass and Volca Sample II to be able to jam a bit. It sounds like shit, but is pretty fun. Plus, I can also connect them up to my Atari ST via MIDI and use Cubase to orchestrate some stuff in more detail. It works pretty well, and the only thing stopping me from getting better is actually putting in more time to practice. Sadly I haven't really put as much time into photography as previously, but I'll do some updates soon on 158.nu with new photos. I HAVE been in the darkroom, but mostly to print stuff for friends or for myself to hang on my wall at home. I usually draw a line between those three categories of pictures, which my be a mistake since I tend to spend the time I acutally put into the darkroom with the other two, rather than what I upload to the project site. I have a lot of ideas though that I will look further into during the winter/spring. For some reason I've been photographing and printing wedding pictures for three different couples of friends this year. I'm not really a skilled wedding photographer, but I usually brought the camera just for a laugh, and took a few anyway. I then printed them ones I liked the most and mailed them to the couple in question. Pretty random, but they seemed to like the pictures a lot. Christmas holiday this year has been pretty calm and conmfy. We celebrated at my sisters house. Mostly because she has a three-year-old that does not like long car-rides, so it's easier for them. Plus they have the room. We pitched in a bit each for the dinner, and we have stopped buying gifts for each-other since a few years back, and instead focus on spending time together. The notable exception is of course for the kid, he enjoys getting christmas presents in a completely different way, and we each buy him something thoughtful. This year I got him some beginners skis, so that he may spend some time out in the winter landscape. The content for this site is CC-BY-SA-4.0.
