Today I tried out the gopherspace on SDF. It works a lot like ftp sharing, just different. One can use this space to keep a blog (called a phlog or glog) or just share documents or whatever information you want. Well, I'm trying this glog out right now by submitting this post. You first create a normal textfile and name it whatever you want. Then you just have to put this text file in your gopher directory and update another file, called gophermap. This file, it seems, keeps the configuration/layout on how your gopher page will look. You can read all about the format for this file in the tutorials section on the sdf.org website. There is always different ways to skin your cat, or in this case, your gophermap file, so you can run a script that do the (not very) hard work for you. After creating your text file, run the mkgopherentry script. To do this, run "/sys/sdf/bin/mkgopherentry TITLE FILENAME", where TITLE is the title of your gopherentry (blog title), and filename obviously the filename containing your text. And voila, it updates your gophermap file. Now you can go to your gophersphere (located at gopher://sdf.lonestar.org/1/users/YOUR_USERNAME) and see how your page looks like. OK, I wrote this not to be a tutorial, thats already done on the sdf website. This is just a lame entry.
