Jeera (cumin) Rice ================== Mom's note: very good! Serves: 6 persons Total cooking time: 20 minutes 5 tb oil 1-1/2 ts cumin seeds 1 cup basmati rice salt to taste turmeric powder Clean and wash the rice in 3-4 changes of water. Soak in 2 cups of clean water for 25-30 minutes. Heat oil in wok. Add the cumin seeds. Add a pinch of turmeric powder & immediately add the rice. Add water & salt as per taste & stir slowly. Let it cook on high flame for 7-8 minutes or just until the water is almost absorbed. Lower the flame & cover the wok. Let it cook for 4 more minutes on a slow flame until the water dries up. The rice is ready to eat. Garnish with fresh chopped cilantro leaves & serve it steaming hot.
