Any easy working distro

As I often fail installing distros, in spectacular fashion, I need to
be able to get back to a working distro, as easily as I can manage.
I install this distro on to the whole laptop hard drive

Which easy distro?

My preference

1. Trisquel mini
2. GNU Guix System
3. Debian GNU/Linux netinstall

How to create live USB / pen-drive installer?
=============================================

Android phone (root not required)
---------------------------------

1. Insert pen drive using an OTG cable
2. Use the EtchDroid app

Linux PC
--------

1. Insert pen drive
2. Look for the inserted pen drive device (/dev/sdX) using the
   command lsblk
3. cat my-distro-file.iso > /dev/sdX

Windows/Mac
-----------

There is probably some way
