	You know the moment?

	

	Something has pulled you out of the beat, and suddenly, you are outside the rhythm...

	a fly upon the back of the homunculus born of the magical alembic

	

	you breathe

	but alone

	

	and so, you move

	groping about

	long before realizing something has happened

	

	until

	you pick up your drum

	and realize

	you can't hear the 1

	

	the language of the fire has changed since you spoke it

	what feels like eons ago

	

	and

	having chased the beat in the past

	you consider whether the chase is worth repeating

	

	so

	you stand

	simply noticing

	where you stand

	and listen

	to the beat

	fade into the distance
