I mentioned previously [0] that most of our books are in storage, about 20 boxes. I estimate there are 300-400 books. Since they have been in storage for over a year, I'm beginning to think I need to get rid of a big chunk of them. Books I read once but will probably never read again, or books I never read at all. That's hard for me - I gave away a lot of books when we moved, and I've always been a bibliophile. But I'm noticing as I get older I have less tolerance for things that waste my time, or energy. And if I thought my kids would ever appreciate inheriting a book collection some day, I might just keep them around. But despite my wife and I reading to our kids constantly when they were young, they never continued the habit. They are more interested in the online world. I hope they return to reading when they are older, but I'm not sure that is realistic. I think we'll be better served donating the books to our old library. They have an annual spring sale where you could go buy used books (some donated, some from the library), and the proceeds would go to the library. That way they might get some use.
