Dark and Stormy I'm pretty sure that it's impossible to bug out. I've met a lot of people since we started Cruising. People from all sides of any political spectrum are often agreed that the world has gone to crap and they want out. The problem is, that there is no way out. There is no where to hide and no where to run. Every single country is full of the same problems and usually worse. The grass simply is not greener any where else. So I'm going to cruise and enjoy life while I can and watch the world burn. We love our boat and we love boating. We love eachother and we love the last bit of freedom left in this crazy world. I'm not sure most people really understand what freedom is and I'm not sure it's atainable any more. Here's a few points to consider: If they can take your house if you don't pay taxes do you really own it? No. Whoever can reposes your house does. See, there is a string of ownership. And at each level certain rights are retained by the owner at that level. At the bottom of that string of ownership is you. If you have a mortgage you only have the right to re-sell it and modify it. If you are a renter and have the right to sub-let your house you have nearly the same level of ownership as a mortgage. The rights we claim are the only rights we can have. If you are "given" a right then it's only a priviledge and it can be withdrawn by the giver. So as we approach things like carbon taxes and water rights this becomes the ultimate form of slavery. What happens if you breath too much? What if you don't pay your carbon tax? What happens if you go beyond your allocated water limit? If food, water, and air are not free then no one is free any more. If you really want freedom then a few things are necessary: 1 The right to defend yourself 2 Air to breath 3 Water to drink 4 A place to live, land that can be "owned" 5 Food to eat 6 The ability to mate and have children Without these 6 things you are a slave to whoever grants you one of the above Is a sovereign really a sovereign if he cannot defend his sovereignty? License is the permission to do that which would otherwise be illegal? Rights cannot be given or they are permission. 1 If you don't have the right of self defense you do not have a right to defend your own life and you are a dead man walking. 2 If your air is taxed and your breath costs you money then you do not have an inalienable right to life. 3 If you have to buy your water then you do not have an inalienable right to life. 4 If you don't have a place to live by right then you do not have the right to liberty or the persuit of happiness. 5 If you do not have the right to grow or produce your own food then you are a slave to whoever feeds you. (wage slavery) 6 Freemen do not need permission to get married or have children, especially permission from the state. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. --That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. Ideas are dangerous and those with the "wrong" ideas must be supressed in order to maintain the order and power of the state. Every despot in order to maintain that despotism must have a monopoly of power and as Mao said "Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun" The ultimate power is the power of life and death. If you command death then you get to decide who lives. This is in direct conflict to Marx who said: "Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered; any attempt to disarm the workers must be frustrated, by force if necessary" To gain power you need weapons. to maintain power you need all weapons.
