14th April 2023 - Malta days 6 to 9 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Written in a kitchen of a scout hut in Sliema. Day 6 was spent mostly exploring again. I headed up to Ghadira Bay. It is a vast sweeping bay with some shallow water and beautiful sand. We ended up walking along the beach, fighting building works and enjoying ice cream in Mellieha. A nice relaxing day to.be honest. Ate.aome dodgy plastic cheese stuff for lunch. I ended up.meeting with my friend for dinner. He picked me up but ended up with a ticket thanks to some mad signage which few woukd get right. We went off to Bharija to eat at a aports bar which served some tasty food. It was a rustic place.and one without women. seems odd. Day 7 was transfer day to Xaghra (pronounced chara) on Gozo, an island north of Malta. We got the ferry across and it was pretty quick. We all had to carry our kit so space was tight. The bus from the ferry port was rammed so I ended uo standing most of the route. Xaghra is a lovely town on top of a hill with great views. Wr ended up going to Victoria as a exploration affair. Urfghhh attempts to write are leadjng to falling asleep. This wkll be tidied up later when I am nit typing on a phone. Day 8 started wonderfully at 4 am with cockrels having a cockle-doodle-doo off. Throw in some dogs voicing their anger and then a truck angrily announcing a car was in the way. We ended up in Rambla for a gorgeous beach. More ice cream fun. The beach was too chilly in the wind for us wussy boys so we left soon after. There was a lovely leaders meal out in Xaghra too. Day 9 was another travel day from Xaghra back to the main bit of Malta. We got the slow fwrry while some of the scouts took tbe fast ferry. There was some amusing footage of them looking rather green as a result of the choppy waves. The fast ferry takes yu to Valletta while the slow one takes you to Cirkewwa. I got stuck on a long bus surrounded by a few scouts who stank. It was a warm hour and 20 minutes in warm humid BO weather zone. Bleurgh.
