I have always passed by the book Mythical Man-Month by Brooks thinking it was too old and boring. Well, I finally read it and I think it is a good book. It is about the larger side of programming but could as well be applied to big projects requiring a lot of people. A main premise is that adding people to a late project may not make the delivery on time. People and tasks are interwoven and dependent on one another. Another lesson is that programming is only a small part of overall devlopment. The specification, design, and testing need to be emphasized when estimating a schedule. Each chapter is short enough to keep my attention. I recommend this book to people new to software development and management of projects, as well as to the jockey software types. The writing is good quality and the topics are important in this day when software seems lacking something.
