One of these things you don't know you are missing until you just
sort of bump into it: A sane locale for your system.

I have been accepting the fact that my locale is in my native
language and the rest of the system in English. I can't have the
locale in English because of the silly measurement system and
I can't have the system in my native language because of silly
computer vocabulary.

Praise Ireland for using the metric system!
