2021-05-03 ------------------------------------------------------------------ I heard a great point that I have almost forgotten. It was something like this: "Social media is not structured so that people could wonder about things". I know, this doesn't sound very insightful, and I am sorry to have just this fragment, but it is important. It's like when you are in the creative state, it will collapse if you have someone else, or yourself, criticise every step you take. It's the difference between the two sides of the brain. You have the side that sort of floats around and you have the side that pins stuff down. If you are always in that "pin shit down" state, you are basically forgetting that you even have that other side. This is what the social media does. That is the frustrating part, at least for myself. You are just never constructing anything new when you are there. And also, the fact of being there makes you less likely to construct anything "on your free time" since you are more in the rut of criticising stuff. Creativity really takes time. You have to sort of descent into this other space. If you keep hitting that adrenaline button, there is no way you will be able to get down there. Well, this is my experience. Lately, I've been working on a webpage for random "art" stuff. I find that by not giving myself any real technical or artistic limits I have been quite productive almost automatically. This sort of limitless style is really hard when you are all the time connected to your critics. I think it must be fucking up art really badly. Only the people with the thickest skins will be able to do it in the future. I don't think that creativity and thick skin go together that often. ------------------------------------------------------------------
