What is a magical girl?

Magical girls are usually defined as girls that are magic. Clearly, this
is a ridiculous and backwards definition. In fact, magical girls are a
very specific kind of breed. Through my research, I have defined magical
girls by the following criteria:

1) Must be female
2) Must be under legal adult age
3) Must have magical powers
4) Must be able to transform from "normal" to "magic"
5) Must have a specific outfit(s) for performing magic
6) Must have a defined goal or enemy

Now, the beauty of this chart is that can be used to rate the "magical
girlness" of any given person. For example, an adult female with a defined
enemy would meet 2 of the 6 criteria, making them 33% magical girl.

Thus, we can see that psuedo-magical girls are possible, and in fact are
common. For example, the Daicon Girl* meets 1, 2, 3, 5, and probably 6 as
well. This makes her about 83% magical girl - an impressive feat.

*Note that I mean the Daicon III girl.

Of course, among magical girls there is much variation, but that is 
outside the scope of this document.
