Sunday got off to a late start. I ran, ate lunch, and then went out to walk around town a bit. It had been a long time since I had a nice cocktail and my partner and I were able to find a secluded table outside of a friend's bar that had recently re-opened. It was a smokey, Rye cocktail with some Islay scotch added. Perfect for a brisk, spring afternoon. I asked the bartender to recommend an amaro to shoot before we left and he handed me a cordial glass of Angostura Amaro, an amaro I enjoy and used to use in tiki cocktails. After that, we drove to the park and watched one of the most beautiful sunsets I can remember. It's the perfect time of year for sunsets in this state, and the layered cloud coverage created this resplendent orange and red display that took up three quarters of the skyline. On Monday, after I was done roller skating in the abandoned movie theater parking lot near where I live, I was relaxing on the couch with a beer when I was sent an email from my health care provider stating that I needed to schedule a COVID-19 vaccine appointment. In this state vaccines are being made available to the general public, but I was surprised to be notified so quickly and to see there were appointments available. I've heard stories of many people having problems booking these appointments. But sure enough, I was able to schedule it for April 1st, April Fool's Day. I even called the hospital this morning just to confirm that it was OK for me to make an appointment as someone who should be in the last phase. They told me it was OK and I could get the shots. So we'll see how all that goes. My partner was also able to schedule an appointment a few days later. We're lucky. I ended the weekend by cooking some chicken katsu with curry for the week ahead. I also made some steaks for dinner. Dr. Who and a gin martini sounds like a nice way to end the night.
