If your neighbor or your friend has something you really like in their yard or garden, there's nothing wrong with asking if they'd be willing to let you collect seeds or cuttings! Do keep in mind that getting a plant to grow from these seeds or cuttings isn't as easy as buying a plant from a nursery - growing from seed isn't as fast as transplanting, and taking cuttings requires a bit of skill. Still, I think it's worth it - it's fun, and you learn more about the plant by propagating it yourself! (TXT) Growing Native Plants From Seed Vegetative propagation: I'm not very familiar with taking cuttings (I like growing plants from seeds, myself). Taking cuttings does require more skill than growing a plant from seed, but it offers two advantages: it is faster than growing from seed, and the plants produced are all identical to the mother plant. This makes it a particularly useful technique for mass plantings.
