I used to have a last.fm account several years ago. I really enjoyed listening to recommended music, meeting new people and in short, being a part of that "social network". Things changed when I learnt that based on the country where I lived, listening to music had become an exclusive service for subscribers. I deleted my account. It is not that I care about spending a bit of money. (Subscription is only $3/month) What I find extremely unfair is that it is completely for free depending on the country you live in (USA, UK and Germany) WHY? In the beginning I connected to my account using a web proxy. It did the trick but I thought it would be better if I simply stopped being a member as a way to show my disagreement with their policy. Now, some years later. I still feel the same way but I felt like trying this scrobbling thing (free service), just for fun. So I opened a new account. It is sad to see that if I connect to last.fm from my sdf-eu account I get their service for free but If I connect from my country I get a reminder that I have to subscribe. *sigh*
