-------------------------------------------- Another addiction 2019.01.19 14:58:19 CET -------------------------------------------- Last time I posted about my food addiction, now I have to admit another one: I pile up too much used and old equipment, cables and unnecessary cruft. I took some time this week to clean the server rack I keep in my home office. I had not cleaned the insides of the rack since I installed it, so there was plenty of dust to remove. I took the opportunity to reorganize the trays, servers and cabling. I removed everything I wasn't using: the broken FreeNAS Mini, a Dell workstation, two RaspberryPi's and consequently a network switch. Looking at everything I have but am not using (laptops, servers, workstations, Pis) I can't help but feel overloaded and wish to get rid of them. On the other hand, I find it very hard to let go of things - specially because some do have a financial value (besides the emotional one), but I wouldn't be able to sell them. How do you handle the ever growing pile of old stuff at your place? Do you have any financial or emotional attachment to this old equipment?
