-------------------------------------------- Hidden motives 2018.07.29 13:46:22 CEST -------------------------------------------- I started preparing my keynote speech at Gophercon and I will be speaking about hidden motives, rationalizations and the decision- making process working with technology. Most, if not all, the people I work with personally try to be as data-driven as possible about their decisions, but do they really? I've been reading a lot about the distinction between real hidden motivations and the rationalizations we tell ourselves. Unfortunately it seems there is a real gap there: we do something and then our brains reverse-engineer the decision, convincing ourselves that's the reason we did that one thing to begin with. It's mind-bending (I should say mind breaking), but learning about this helped myself a lot and I want to share it with others.
