# Side effect

I bought a Fire TV Stick from amazon before Christmas. We watched
multiple movies and American football games using that stick. However
one day our tv seemed to be broken as it did not show anything except
for a blue screen (newer tv sets do not show the "war of the ants").
As I could not switch between channels or select an input source (HDMI
and the like), I thought that the tv is completely broken. After that
we watched the divisional round on my computer.

After a few days I remembered that the Fire TV Stick can control the
tv. It can for example change the volume of the speakers. I switched
off the stick and miraculously pictures filled the screen.

Fortunately this control capability can be switched off in the
settings of the stick, which I did and the blue screen did not return
so far.
