# Duo 106 days ago I started to use Duolingo. I wanted to learn a bit of Czech in a playful way. I'm not taking it seriously and I just play around in the app. I didn't really like the almost complete lack of grammar explanations, but then I found that in the web version you can access some tips that somewhat describe the grammatical background behind the sentences in the excercises. I have not used the web version for some time only to discover that the grammar tips are now gone. And they changed the layout of the lessons, you now have a linear path of untitled lessons. This far they had titles like "Questions", "Animals", "Food", etc. And you were not forced to do one after the other but could choose one from the next row if you completed at least level 1 of all the lessons above. I even thought about paying for Duolingo Super and am glad I did not do it. Now people are canceling their paid subscriptions as the new layout sucks, you don't even know what is the topic of the next lessons and it takes away your freedom to choose which topic you'd like to see next. Strangely the layout in the app did not change - at least not on my device; not yet. According to the rating comments many already have the new layout in the app, too. If it arrives in my copy of the app I'm going to delete it. I just wanted to have fun and learn a bit, but greedy corporate managers destroy everything. According to comments I read you cannot even beat the mini games anymore without a lot of gems, which you have to buy of course if you are low on them. It's better to switch to a book, that money-hungry companies can't forcefully update.
