Mastodon server at SDF Monday Nov 14 9:04:33 2022 ------------------------------ I am not really keen on mainstream social networks. However, my curiosity led me some years ago to sign up for facebook (I deleted my account after a couple of weeks) and I also got a twitter account (that I never used at all). I bet there is nothing wrong in trying things to see if you like them or not. Sometimes, from a selfish point of view, it is good to sign up to prevent someone else from stealing your username. I remember that several years ago, I would have traded almost anything to get a chals@live.com for personal reasons, however, it was already taken. I arrived too late! Nevermind. I do not want it anymore. When this crazy migration to mastodon began (users moving from twitter to mastodon) I thought: "Oh my! People are so stupid." But well, thinking it twice I recall that many of us moved to libera irc in a similar way after freenode was purchased by a single individual. And I do not have any data here but I bet that libera is growing bigger and bigger while freenode is not really hitting big numbers. At least that is my perception. Your milleage may vary. All this going round in circles is to say that I got a mastodon account on the sdf server yesterday. I have not posted anything yet, but at least I can say that I didn't flee away from twitter. Not strictly speaking at least. And who knows? I may not intend to post anything, but maybe I get hooked on it and start posting everyday. It is a commonplace but only time will tell. ______________________________________________________________________ Gophered by Gophernicus/1.6 on NetBSD/amd64 9.1
