Notepad is a multifunctional text editor with many
input and editing capabilities, developed by Microsoft
corporation.
It combines the power and natural simplicity that is
characteristic of Microsoft's products. Notepad is also
ideal for preparing web pages - Microsoft Internet
Explorer uses Notepad to view page sources. And the
most fantastic news is that Microsoft allows you
to use Notepad absolutely for free!

Currently, Notepad exists in versions for Microsoft Windows
operating systems. However, due to numerous user requests
from around the world, Microsoft corporation has begun
developing versions of Notepad for Unix, Macintosh,
and OS/2 systems!

However, not everyone is happy with Notepad's triumphant
march across the planet. For example, Corel corporation,
which is trying to compete with Notepad by offering its
clunky WordPerfect program, recently filed a lawsuit
against Microsoft. Instead of honestly competing and
improving their product, they accused Notepad creators
of violating antitrust laws. They claim that Notepad
is so integrated into the Windows system that it cannot
be uninstalled without affecting the overall functionality
of the system. Additionally, the plaintiff demands the
removal of Notepad from the MS Windows package,
as it allegedly deprives users of the choice between
products from other companies. Of course, all of this
is blatant lies and slander!

Shortly before the official release of Windows 98,
Microsoft corporation held a grand presentation of the
new version of Notepad. The innovations in Notepad 98
are truly revolutionary:
- More convenient file handling
- The new default file is now called "Untitled" instead
of "Unnamed".
- Customizable font settings
- Finally! Now you can change the default font that
Notepad uses to display text.
- Improved help system
- Notepad's help system is now in the new popular HTML-Help
format. It has become even easier to answer the numerous
questions that users may have while working with Notepad.

As mentioned before, Notepad is a very powerful editor
with many amazing features that are not found in
any other software from other companies! See for yourself:
- Can handle any file!
- The file size limit is 64(!) kilobytes(!!!). In modern
computer systems, files of larger size are almost
non-existent.
- Implements Cooperative Multitasking
- The number of simultaneously open files is 1 (one).
Do not get distracted by minor details to the detriment
of the main task!
- Super user-friendly interface
- No toolbars or "hotkeys" for common commands like
"File-Open" and "File-Save". The status bar - such luxury
is also not provided. Everything is for the user's benefit!
- Comfortable text editing
- Insert the current date with a single button click.
However, the less needed "Replace" function is not
included.
- Fast file opening
- Using the "Open" window, you can open a file for editing
in just 4 to 50 mouse clicks. There is no list of recently
opened files.
- Notepad - the perfect program!
- There is almost no possibility to customize the user
interface.
