       Subject: [gopher] Gophernicus 2.4 "Millennium Edition" released

       Right on the heels of yesterday's groundbreaking TLS/SSL-enabled release of Gophernicus - The Most Awesome(tm) gopher server - comes version 2.4 "Millennium Edition".

       New features:
         * New -T <TLS port> option so Gophernicus knows which requests are TLS
         * All logging fixed to use gophers:// protocol for TLS connections
         * CGI scripts can detect TLS requests using the $TLS environment variable
         * Autogenerated caps.txt now has a ServerTLSPort=<TLS port> key

       Download from:
         * gopher://gophernicus.org/1/software/gophernicus/
         * http://gophernicus.org/software/gophernicus/

       The only remaining problem is to figure out a way to tell which connections are TLS and which are plaintext in gopher menus. Alternative is not to change menus at all and require the clients to read caps.txt first to see if there is a non-zero ServerTLSPort available for encrypted connections. That might actually be the most backwards-compatible method.

       The TLS/SSL test site gophers://gophernicus.org/ is also now ready for testing - the certificate is now a valid signed cert for that domain and the server configuration fixed.
