2019-08-22 - Cards For Connection by Erin the Connectress ========================================================= I went to Singing Alive Cascadia, a weekend-long festival about group singing. There i met a young woman who wore a rainbow dress, rainbow fanny pack, and she carried a rainbow bag. Her countenance was bouyant and we introduced ourselves. Her name is Erin the Connectress. Erin took a deck out of her bag and handed me a card. It read "When i was a child, i loved to play _____." I answered "with toys." She invited me to say more, so i described some characters i had imagined, the factions they formed, the conflicts they entered, etc. She told me to keep the card and share it. When i shared it with my partner, i learned something new and felt more connected. Erin created Cards For Connection and passed out individual cards as her business card. Erin said that she appreciated playing the game with older people because of how much they appreciate their childhood memories, and how their faces light up when talking about them. Throughout Singing Alive, Erin and i continued to cross paths. Wherever she went, she was spreading magic. She painted a rainbow on my face. She painted rainbows on many faces, each unique in some way. I must have seen a hundred other rainbow-painted people at meals, song circles, and in the campground. I had fun playing Cards For Connection. True to the name, i felt more connected, and i enthusiastically recommend booking Erin the Connectress for live events. tags: article, cards, connection, inspiration Tags ==== article cards connection inspiration
