* Exported from MasterCook * Saffron Bread Recipe By : Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Breads Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 C. boiling water 1 Pkg. saffron -- (.025 oz.) 1 C. scalded milk -- cooled 1/2 C. oleo 1/2 C. warm water 2 Pkg. dry yeast 2 eggs -- beaten 3/4 C. sugar 1 Tsp. salt 6 C. flour -- (6 to 8) 1 Box raisins -- (15 oz.) rinsed and floured a little Mix boiling water and saffron together and let steep overnight. Add oleo while milk is cooling. Put sugar and salt in bowl. Add scalded milk and oleo mixture, 1/4 cup warm water, saffron, eggs and yeast. Mix well. Add 3 to 4 cups flour; mix well. Add raisins. Add remaining flour, enough to make workable. Put on floured board and knead 15 minutes. Place in a greased bowl and grease top. Let rise until double in bulk. Shape into loaves; put into greased pans. Let rise until double. Bake at 350 degrees to 375 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes or until hollow sounding when tapped. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
